The Nd-YAG laser offers the most advanced technology for safe and effective treatment of warts without surgery. With only 1-2 sessions, at minimal pain the warts become black within a week and gradually falls off after 3 weeks leaving very minimal scarring.
A Wart is a small, rough growth resembling a cauliflower or a solid blister. It typically occurs on hands and feet, but often in other locations. Warts are caused by a viral infection, specifically by one of the many types of human papillomavirus ( HPV). There are many as 10 varieties of warts, the most common one is the most harmless. It is possible to get warts from others; they are contagious and usually enter the body in an area of broken skin. They disappear after a few months but can last for years and can reoccur if not effectively treated. A range and types of wart can be identified, varying in shape and site affected, and well as the type of papillomavirus involved.
Verruca is a plantar wart- verruca plantaris. Is a wart that occurs on the sole or toes of the foot. These warts are usually self-limiting, treatment is recommended to lessen symptoms, like pain, decrease duration and reduce transmission. The human papilloma virus attacks compromised skin through direct contact, entering through possibly tiny cuts and abrasions in the outermost layer of the skin- stratum corneum. After infection, warts may not be visible for several weeks or months. Because of pressure on the sole of the foot or finger, the wart is pushed inward and a layer of hard skin may form over the wart. A plantar wart or verruca can be painful if left untreated. Pinpoint bleeding may occur when these are scratched. Verrucae tend to be painful on application of pressure from either side of the lesion rather than direct pressure unlike calluses. The virus is spread by direct and indirect contact from an infested host. Avoiding contact with possible infected surfaces is advised such as communal changing rooms, shower floors and benches, avoid sharing shoes and socks. All warts are contagious; precautions should be taken to avoid spreading them: cover them with an adhesive bandage while swimming; wear flip flops when using communal showers; don’t share towels.
How Does The Laser Work
Left alone two thirds of these warts will resolve spontaneously. Some however do not resolve despite repeated treatments and are referred to as recalcitrant warts. This is specially so in the case of plantar (sole of the foot), periungual (around the edge of the nail) and subungual (beneath the nail) types. Traditional treatments for warts involve physical destruction of the viral infected cells, such as application of acids, liquid nitrogen therapy, electrocautery and carbon dioxide ablation. These treatments all cause destruction of the top layer of the skin and may result in permanent scarring. Many topical treatments that you can use at home prove ineffective as warts become resistant and continually return. Vascular lasers such as Fotona XP Dinamis Nd-yag are able to offer the most advanced laser technology for safe and effective treatment. Treatment works by targeting blood vessels that supply the wart, as well as thermally destroying the wart itself, without causing damage to the surrounding skin. The laser energy heats up the wart, sealing its blood supply so that the wart can no longer survive. The client is assessed after four weeks.
